The co-founders of Tech Diversity Lab are all women in tech, software engineers and engineering leaders. We have experienced bias in our careers and have been working separately to change the industry to be more inclusive: through transforming the cultures of the teams we lead and building communities to support underrepresented groups, including Tech Leading Ladies and Women Who Code Melbourne.
The need for high performing, diverse technical teams has never been more critical. Technology has become the infrastructure of our society, and for it to be built well, it needs strong technical teams.
Our experiences have shown us the difficulty of building and maintaining diverse and high performing teams first hand - from poor visibility over which capabilities are held by technical staff, to the use of out-of-date systems that are not tech specific, often organisations are relying on ‘gut-feelings’ and internal bias.
Since 2017 we have been passionately working in community groups to help tech teams work together and become great places for diverse technologists to be. We decided there had to be a better way, so we created Tech Diversity Lab.
In 2022 we came together to build Tech Diversity Lab, so we can ensure every technologist can achieve their full potential at work.
